Please read these messages for this week.
Non-Uniform Day, Monday, Feb 3rd
This Monday is a non-uniform day. Please remember to follow the school non-uniform guidelines, especially loose and long clothing. Remember, consequences will be given for non-compliance.
BHA Spelling Bee
Congratulations to 6th grader Adham Sadek who won the school-wide spelling bee this week out of the three finalists in grades 6th – 8th. Adham will be representing BHA at the county bee on March 19, which can be watched live, insha’Allah.
Geography Bee
The middle school class Geography Bee will be on Monday, February 3rd. We hope students have been studying for it. The winner will take a written test on Tuesday, Feb 4, to determine eligibility for the National Bee.
National Juniors Honor Society
We are proud to announce that the school is starting a chapter of the National Honor Society this year. You can know more about it here www.njhs.us/about/. Membership is based on semester grades and citizenship.
We are happy that several students met our NJHS requirements and were invited to join the society. The advisor, Ms. Hanan, will have an Induction Ceremony for the accepted students next week, insha’Allah. Details will be shared in a separate email with select students and parents. We hope to see more students make the effort and join us next year, insha’Allah.
Calendar Correction
We would like to inform everyone that Friday, February 14th, which was marked as a half day on the calendar, will be a regular full Friday schedule. Monday will still be a holiday with no school.
Student Activities:
Botball for 8th-10th starts next Friday, after school.
Feb 17, Monday: No School
Feb 29, Saturday: BHA Banquet
Basketball games:
Sat, Feb. 1, 9.50 a.m.: Boys’ Game
Sun, Feb. 2, 8.00 a.m.: Girls’ Game
The games are at Alliant International School. Please come and show your support.
Uniform Checks
Last but not the least, jazakumullahukhairan for your support and cooperation with our uniform policy. Uniform checks will be carried out strictly from now on, insha’Allah. If your child received a reminder or a concern this week, please help them follow these easy guidelines, insha’Allah:
BOYS (Shirt needs logo)
Polo Shirts: Garnet, light blue or white
Dress Shirt: Light blue or white
Pants: Navy or tan khakis
GIRLS (Logo on jumper only )
Polo Shirt: Long sleeves, blue (any shade), or white
Jumper Dress
Pants: Navy, loose (not leggings or tights; also no jeans)
Hijab: White, solid, covers all hair, neck, and back if not covered by the shirt (all day long)
Misc: No nail polish
BOYS & GIRLS
Socks: 1 inch above ankles (for wudu)
Sweaters/Hoodies: Navy with Logo
Non-Uniform Guidelines: No tight clothing, ankles covered, and full sleeves (for Girls).
P.E. Clothes
BOYS: Navy sweatpants and grey t-shirt
GIRLS: Navy sweatpants (loose), and grey or blue tunic (loose, long sleeve and should cover thighs)
Consequences:
1st – concern/warning
2nd – infraction
3rd – call to parent to bring a replacement
After this, the principal will become involved.
BHA Annual Banquet, February 29th
The tickets are available for purchase at the school office (both campuses).
Priority Registration
Priority registration for returning students will start on February 14th, and end on February 28th.
